Aaron and his crew exceeded all expectations. I had to reschedule twice, to which Aaron was very accommodating. The team showed up on time, did a phenomenal job with the floors, and thoroughly cleaned the area before leaving. I look forward to working with AG construction again!

AG Construction did a great job repairing and refinishing my hardwood floors. Aaron is professional and responsive and was helpful in guiding me to the right stain choice based on the existing condition of my floors. I never felt pressure and he was flexible with his schedule to accommodate mine. His crew worked hard and kept the mess to a minimum. I highly recommend them.

Original parquet flooring from 1962. AG was on time, got done early, did a fantastic job with some rough spots, and was very reasonable price. Aaron was extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly what should be done.

Hardwood Floors in Damascus Homes

Damascus mixes an older town center, subdivisions built over the last few decades, and farmhouses and larger properties in the Agricultural Reserve that surrounds it. Each brings a different floor. Newer homes usually have oak strip or plank floors that need a sand and refinish once the finish wears thin in the walkways. Older farmhouses can have softwood floors such as pine, often face nailed and with gaps between boards, which sand differently from oak and need a lighter, more careful approach. See pine floor refinishing for what that involves.

For new floors we install solid and engineered hardwood, prefinished or finished in place, and we check and correct the subfloor first. In older houses that step often turns up the squeaks and soft spots that a new floor would otherwise inherit.

Carpet Installation in Damascus

For bedrooms, stairs and basement family rooms, carpet is still the comfortable, quiet choice. We install carpet from Shaw Floors, Mohawk, Phenix Flooring and Beaulieu, with the old carpet and pad removed and hauled away. If you are weighing carpet against luxury vinyl plank for a basement, tell us at the estimate and we will price both.

Damascus, Mount Airy and the County Line

Damascus sits near the Frederick and Howard County lines, and we work on both sides of them. Our Mount Airy page covers the town just north on Route 27, Frederick County covers New Market and Urbana, and Montgomery County covers Clarksburg and the rest of the upcounty area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you refinish an old pine floor in a Damascus farmhouse?

Usually, yes. Pine is softer than oak and older pine floors are often face nailed with gaps between boards, so it is sanded with a lighter touch and the nails are set first. If a floor has been sanded too many times to take another, we will tell you at the estimate.

Do you install carpet in Damascus?

Yes. We install carpet from Shaw Floors, Mohawk, Phenix Flooring and Beaulieu in bedrooms, on stairs and in basements, and we remove and haul away the old carpet and pad.

Is Damascus in your regular service area?

Yes. Damascus is a short drive from our base in Woodbine, and it is part of our regular Montgomery County service area along with Mount Airy, Clarksburg, Germantown and Laytonsville. Call 240-246-4561 to schedule a free estimate.

How much does hardwood floor refinishing cost in Damascus?

We quote refinishing as packages: about $995 for a single room, $1,695 for around 500 square feet, and $3,195 for a typical 1,000 square foot main level. Repairs, deep wear and custom colors are added at the walkthrough, and the estimate is free and written.
