Mount Airy has an older downtown along Main Street, surrounded by neighborhoods built over the last several decades. In the older homes, original floors are often worth saving: if the boards are structurally sound, a full sand and refinish brings them back for far less than replacement. New Hardwood and Engineered Floors
When a room needs a new floor, we install solid and engineered hardwood in oak, maple, walnut, cherry and other species, in standard or wide plank widths. Solid wood suits a main level over a wood subfloor. Engineered wood is more stable over concrete and below grade, which matters in a finished basement.
Every installation starts with the subfloor. Flat, dry and sound is not optional, so we check it and correct it before the first board goes down. Stairs can be part of the same job, with hardwood treads stained to match the new floor.
Luxury Vinyl Plank and Carpet
For basements, kitchens, laundry rooms and mudrooms, luxury vinyl plank and COREtec give you a wood look with a waterproof core, and they stand up to pets and muddy boots. We check concrete slabs for moisture before we quote.
For bedrooms and stairs we install carpet from Shaw Floors, Mohawk, Phenix Flooring and Beaulieu, with the old carpet and pad removed and hauled away. If you are torn between carpet and vinyl plank for a basement, we will price both.
